Abstract

Magnetic fluids (MFs) are one of functional materials, which compose single-domain magnetic nanoparticles dispersing in a carrier liquid. When a drop of MFs covering on an annular magnet, a closed liquid ring can be formed. The MFs ring seals to encapsulate a pocket of air, which can carry a load. Thus, the tribopairs can be separated completely to achieve low friction even at very low sliding speed.
